Registering for the Sale

You must attach your account to every sale even if you have consigned before. Having a username, password, and consignor number does not automatically register you for the next sale.

  1. Visit Find a Sale.
  2. Select the Kids Closet Connection Illinois sale.
  3. Register as a consignor or sign in to your existing account. If you are new, use the consignor registration page.
  4. In your account, select a drop-off/check-in appointment.
  5. Sign up for helper shifts if you would like to increase your earnings.
  6. Confirm that your name (we use this name when issuing your checks), email address and phone number in your account are current.

We send important updates by email and may also send text messages (during sale hours). Please make sure you are opted in to receive emails: on the website, go to Edit Account > Profile Information and confirm the email-approval box is checked. You can also follow our Facebook Consignor page.

Consignor Fees and Earnings

There is no upfront cost to consign. A $15 consignor fee is deducted from your earnings after the sale.

Your earnings depend on the number of eligible three-hour helper shifts you complete:

Helper shifts completed - Your share of sales

No shifts - 60%

One three-hour shift - 70%

Two three-hour shifts - 75%

Three three-hour shifts - 80%*

*The additional earnings for completing a third helper shift are capped at $60. If your total sales reach $1,001 or more, your commission percentage is 75%. In the Additional Proceeds field, we will enter $60, which is the maximum bonus for your third helper shift.

At least 50% of your items must be marked down for Discount Sunday. Please be sure to follow this requirement! Sunday is a great opportunity to sell more items and earn extra money, as we typically have lots of shoppers looking for deals. Don't miss out on this chance to make those last-minute sales!

Consignor Perks

Consignors with items on the sales floor are eligible to shop during our Thursday presale! To take advantage of early shopping, you must have checked in on consignor check-in day and have at least 25 items on the sales floor.

  • One helper shift: Early shopping begins at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
  • Two or three helper shifts: Early shopping begins at 3:00 p.m. Thursday.
  • No presale ticket is required for eligible consignors and helpers shopping during these designated times.
  • Bring your friends! You may bring up to 2 guests with you to shop during the presale.

Helper Shift Rules

We appreciate every volunteer. Helper shifts keep the sale running smoothly, so please sign up only for shifts you can attend.

  • Each helper shift is three hours.
  • All helpers must be 18 or older.
  • Helpers must wear closed-toe shoes.
  • Please sign up for a maximum of two helper shifts initially. Well open registration for a third shift closer to the sale to give everyone a fair opportunity to sign up for one or two shifts first.
  • You may work up to three shifts, but not all three on the same day.
  • Shifts may not overlap. For example, 10:00 a.m.1:00 p.m. and noon3:00 p.m. overlap and cannot both be selected.
  • If the available time slots do not fit your schedule, contact us to ask whether a different slot can be arranged.
  • Children may not accompany helpers.
  • Missing a scheduled shift without prior arrangement will result in a 5% deduction from your total sales. If an unusual circumstance arises, email kccwillcounty@gmail.com before the sale to discuss it or text Alyssa if during sale dates.

**Helper shifts will be finalized at 7:00 p.m. Central Time on Tuesday the week of the sale. After that time, contact us directly if you need to add/change/cancel a shift. Do not edit or change your shifts on the website.**

If you are signed up for helper shifts and have fewer than 25 items in your inventory on the Friday before the sale, we need to confirm that you are still tagging items and will be working your shifts. If we cannot reach you, your shifts may be deleted.

What You May Consign

Items must be clean, current, complete, and compliant. All items must be laundered when appropriate and free of stains and odors. Items that do not meet our quality standards may be rejected and placed in the designated pickup area.

Maintaining high-quality merchandise is essential to protecting the integrity and reputation of our sale. Please be mindful of what you bring, as the quality of our items directly impacts our consignors and shoppers experiences and the continued success of our sale.

Accepted items include:

  • Childrens clothing from newborn through Adult Men L and Adult Women L, in the correct season.
  • Maternity clothing and accessories.
  • Baby furniture and equipment, such as changing tables, rockers, strollers, high chairs, baby swings, and car seats.
  • Crib bedding and nursery dcor.
  • Baby items such as crib sheets, receiving blankets, bottles, and towels.
  • Books, DVDs, videos, and electronics (gaming systems, phones, cameras, headphones).
  • Toys, puzzles, and games, provided all pieces are included & are working with batteries.
  • Sporting equipment and bicycles.
  • Clean stuffed animals and dolls.

Selling a car seat? Please complete a separate form for each car seat you are consigning. To save time during drop-off, you can click here to fill out the form in advance.

Cribs require prior approval before being brought to the sale. Please email me a photo of the crib, along with the brand and model, so I can verify it and confirm whether it can be accepted.

Seasonal Guidelines
  • Spring sale: Spring and summer items, such as swimsuits, swim trunks, pool items, tanks, shorts, and sandals.
  • Fall sale: Fall and winter items, such as boots, warm jackets, heavy coats, snowsuits, and sleds.
  • T-shirts may be accepted in either season.

Please do not bring out-of-season items. They create extra sorting work and may be removed from the sales floor.

Tagging Requirements

Please follow these requirements carefully. Tags that do not meet the standards may be pulled from the sale at any time.

Printing and barcode requirements

  • Use white cardstock only not copy paper.
  • Print ONE SIDED only.
  • Print in black ink only. Tags must be black and white, with no colored markings or indicators.
  • Use an inkjet printer with fresh ink and make sure the printer is aligned.
  • Print tags at their regular size. Do not adjust the screen percentage to be smaller. Smaller tags do not scan and will be pulled.
  • Do not write on tags, add stickers, or alter tag information.
  • Do not tape over barcodes or laminate tags.
  • Barcodes must be clear and scannable, and tags scan only when placed on a flat surface.
  • Please place a tag on an item where it is easily seen. Think if a customer has to search for it they most likely wont buy it.
  • If any tag information needs to change for example, if you decide to donate an item you must print a new tag. Do not handwrite changes. The only exception is adding a D to indicate donation, as described in the donation section below.
  • You may tag items at any time; the online tagging system does not close.
  • Each consignor may bring a maximum of 1,000 items.
  • Returning consignors may need to move their inactive inventory to active status before the sale. Please make sure your active inventory includes only the items you plan to bring to this sale.

**If you have more than 15 items with barcodes that cannot be scanned and must be entered manually, your consignor percentage will be reduced by 5% for every 15 unscannable items. Unscannable tags significantly slow down checkout lines and create additional work for our team and fellow consignors working the registers.

Please help us keep the sale running smoothly by checking your tags before drop-off. If you're unsure whether your barcodes will scan properly, please reach out! I have scanning guns at my home and would be happy to arrange a time to meet before the sale to test your tags.**

Tag Descriptions Matter

Use clear, specific descriptions that help identify your item if a tag becomes detached. Include details such as color, brand, size, character, or style.

Good examples:

  • Girls blue unicorn shirt
  • Boys OshKosh jeans
  • Girls rainbow two-piece shirt and jean shorts

Avoid descriptions such as shirt, pants, toy, or stuffed animal on their own.

If an item loses its tag and a customer wants to purchase it, I do my best to locate it in our database. However, if the description is too vague (e.g., girl, shirt, or pants), I may not be able to identify the item or complete the sale. Please use clear, detailed descriptions to help ensure your items can still be sold if a tag becomes detached.

If an item with a generic description is reported missing, we are unable to verify or identify the item and therefore will not be able to provide compensation if applicable.

Clothing and Blankets
  • Hang clothing and blankets on hangers in the shape of a question mark (?) when viewed from the front.
  • Place the tag on the upper-right side of the item as you look at it. If using a tagging gun, attach the tag to the collar/tag or underarm seam never the sleeve to ensure easy scanning.
  • Use appropriately sized hangers so items stay on securely.
  • You may use a tagging gun or pins, but attach them through seams only, never directly through the fabric.
  • Do not use clothespins.
  • Place only one tagged item on each hanger. If selling multiple items as a set, you may secure the hangers together using a zip tie or rubber band.
  • You may mark hangers with ribbon or colored tape to help identify them at pickup. Keep all markings off the tags themselves.

Clothing must be appropriate for a childrens sale and within the accepted size range. Items considered inappropriate or outside the sale guidelines may be removed from the floor and made available for pickup after the sale.

Toys, Books, Puzzles, Games, and Boxed Items
  • Make sure toys and games include all pieces & are clean!
  • Put small pieces in a sealed zip-top bag whenever possible. Place the tag inside the bag and secure the bag with packing tape so pieces and tags are not lost.
  • Books, puzzles, games, and boxes may be secured with painters tape only. Do not use clear tape or box tape directly on these items, as it may damage them.
  • Bundle books with ribbon or string, and attach the tag to the outside back of the book bundle.
  • If an item is new, leave its original store tags attached.

Shoes

Attach shoes securely as a pair. One suggested method is to reinforce a cardstock tag with a small piece of packing tape, punch a hole through the reinforced area, and use a zip tie to secure the tag and both shoes together.

Items that use batteries

Battery-operated items must be in working order. Nonworking items will be removed from the sales floor and placed in the pickup area.

Mom & Dads Corner

This varies by every sale. Will update with the current theme soon.

These items cannot be donated after the sale. Any item left behind will incur a $15 fee per item.

Higher-value Items

If you are considering consigning an expensive item, please remember that this is a consignment sale. Although we do our best to minimize loss, theft, or damage, KCC Will County is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items, as outlined in the consignor terms you agree to when registering.

Any smaller items valued over $25, such as clothing, shoes, toys, or baby gear that will be displayed in our bins, must be brought to the front to receive a security tag. This helps protect your items and prevent potential loss or theft.

For the most up-to-date item rules, see the Acceptable Items page and Merchandise Preparation page.

Choosing D for Donate

When creating your tags, you may choose to pick up eligible unsold items after the sale or mark them D for Donate. Donated items are given to our charity after the sale.

Items that may not be marked for donation

Do not mark D for Donate on any of the following:

  • Furniture and beds.
  • Cribs, changing tables, dressers, and train tables.
  • Large items.
  • Car seats, strollers, pack n plays, bassinets, infant baths, and bouncers.
  • Activity tables, bikes, push cars, and scooters.

These items must be picked up by the consignor if they do not sell. Please price them to sell. Our local donation center cannot accept large items.

If you are unsure whether an item may be donated, email KCCWillCounty@gmail.com before the sale.

Donation tag requirements
  • All items marked D for Donate must also be marked for 50% discount.** If you're willing to donate an item for free, consider marking it down to 50% off on Discount Sunday to give it a better chance of selling and earn a little money before donating!**
  • Mom & Dads Corner items may not be donated.
  • Any prohibited item left behind will incur a $15 fee per item, deducted from your check.
  • Items remaining on the sales floor after 6:30pm will be donated or may become the property of KCC to handle as needed.
  • Please pick up all items you do not intend to donate.

If you leave more than 15 items that were not picked up and were not marked D for Donate without communicating with Alyssa, your consignor earnings percentage will be reduced to 50%. Unclaimed items create additional sorting work during breakdown.

Unsold Items and Consignor Check-Out

Please review the Consignor Information page for the exact Sunday pickup schedule.

  • Please know your sort letter, along with the number and types of items you need to collect. To make this easier, go to the My Inventory page, click Export Items at the bottom, and print your inventory list.
  • Do not arrive before 4:30 p.m. on pickup day. Arrive after 4:30 p.m. with enough time to collect your items and have them checked out by a team member by 6:30 p.m.
  • If you cannot find an item, please tell a team member while you are checking out so we can help look for it. This is the best time to resolve missing-item concerns.
  • Items remaining on the sales floor after 6:30 p.m. on pickup day will be donated. We cannot be responsible for items not picked up.
  • If you leave more than 15 items that were not picked up and were not marked D for Donate without communicating with Alyssa, your consignor earnings percentage will be reduced to 50%. Unclaimed items create additional sorting work during breakdown.

We take great care to protect items throughout the sale; however, we cannot guarantee the safety of every item. By participating, consignors acknowledge and agree to the applicable disclaimer during registration, check-in, and check-out.

Receiving Your Payment

Payments are issued electronically only. We do not issue paper checks.

  1. After the sale, you will receive an email from KCC titled CHECK YOUR FEES. Review it carefully and let us know by the stated deadline if anything appears incorrect.
  2. Approximately one to two weeks after that email, you should receive another email notifying you that your e-check is ready. In total, payment is generally sent about two - three weeks after the sale.
  3. Your e-check will be delivered through Deluxe Payment Exchange (DPX).
  4. If this is your first time using DPX, create an account using the same email address KCC has on file for you. Follow the instructions to access, print, and deposit your e-check.
Important payment reminders
  • Please keep your email address up to date and check your inbox regularly, including your spam/junk folder, for important updates. Also, make sure your name is entered correctly in the KCC system, as your check will be made payable to the name listed on your account.
  • Checks expire 90 days after issuance.
  • A $20 re-issuance fee applies if a check must be reissued.
  • Checks not deposited within 120 days are forfeited and will not be reissued.
  • Checks for amounts under $15 will not be issued.

How it Works

Consignors simply tag their items at home and bring them in on the designated drop off days. We'll check your items in and then you can place them on our well organized sales floor. Then let us do the rest! Our professional and personal staff provides the clean facility, advertising and does the selling for you! You don't even have to work the sale!

At the end of the sale, you can come pick up any unsold items or leave them with us and we'll donate them on your behalf. About a week later, you'll receive a check for 65 - 70 percent of your sales, less a once per season $10 consignor fee.

This fee is waived if you refer someone who also consigns.
