Earnings and Perks for Sellers

  • Earn 60% on all items sold.
  • No limits on total amount you can bring to sell. Specific items may have limits.
  • A $5 consignor fee is deducted from your check after the sale.
  • E-checks are issued 10-14 business days after sales are finalized.
  • You and your guest receive FIRST ACCESS to Presale Shopping Day as a thank-you for consigning with us.
  • Want to earn more? Help us at the sale to increase your percentage and pay no consignor fee.

Step-by-Step Process for Selling

1. New Sellers

Create your account online to receive a consignor number and letter.

After creating your account, log in, go to Consign at This Sale, and click Sign Up to Sell for the Michigan Sale.

2. Returning Sellers

Log in, go to Consign at This Sale, and click Sign Up to Sell for the Michigan Sale.

All returning sellers must sign up for each individual sale to join.

3. Select Your Drop-Off Appointment

Choose your preferred day/time.

Once selected, your appointment will appear under Consigning Information in My Closet.

4. Price Your Items at Home

Use the online tagging system inside your consignor account to enter prices and item details.

5. Print Your Tags

Print the barcoded tags on white card stock and attach them securely to each item.

6. Hang All Clothing

Hang garments so the hanger forms the shape of a question mark (opening to the left).

Hangers go home with the buyer and are not returned to the seller.

7. Bring Tagged Items to the Sale Location

Upon arrival, items may go through a preliminary inspection by a KCC helper before you place them in their departments.

8. Track Your Sales

Watch your sales update online each night during the event.

9. Pick Up or Donate

Retrieve any unsold items during the scheduled pickup time or Kids Closet will donate them to charity and help other families in need.

10. Get Paid

Receive your e-check shortly after the sale!


Acceptable Items

Everything must be in working order, clean, current style and in like-new condition

  • Clothing for all ages (baby, kids, teens)
  • Adult clothing: Limit of 10 pieces per gender. Must be current-styles and mostly brand-named
  • Maternity Clothing & Accessories
  • Shoes for every size
  • Accessories (purses, jewelry, belts, scarves, hats,etc.)
  • Games, Puzzles, & Toys: Must be in working order + include batteries
  • Stuffies: Must be new with tags and/or trending characters. Limit of 10
  • Books (baby books - adult fiction). Only family-friendly material
  • Baby Equipment: such as Pack-n-Plays, bassinets, strollers, swings, bouncers and highchairs
  • Baby/Toddler Items: such as swaddles, bibs, blankets, feeding and bathing items, potty training items, etc.
  • Children's Furniture: such as gliders, toddler beds, nightstands, crib mattresses.
  • Children's Outdoor Items & Big items: such as kitchens, dollhouses, tool benches, bikes, scooters
  • Sports Equipment
  • Household and Holiday Decor. No breakable decor unless it is in original packaging.
  • Car seats are accepted with a signed car seat waiver and must meet selling guidelines: No accidents, no recalls & must be more than 1 year from expiration.

Not Accepting the Following:

These items will be rejected at drop off and/or removed from the sales floor

  • No stained, damaged, or worn clothing (visible signs of heavy use)
  • No broken, dirty, or incomplete items
  • No expired baby equipment
  • No baby pillow loungers (Including DOCK-A-TOTS)
  • No recalled items of any kind
  • No food or formula
  • No cribs
  • No crib bumpers of any kind
  • No crib mobiles
  • No used breast pumps/ used pump tubes/ used pacifiers--ONLY NEW!
  • No inclined sleepers. Bassinets flat on babies back is ok
  • No vintage, antique or homemade items, such as furniture, clothing, toys. etc.

Tagging Guidelines:

  • Refer to the Selling Made Simple guide at the bottom of this page.
  • Review the Pricing Guidelines and 4 C's below.
  • Visit the links to our Acceptable Items and Merchandise Preparation pages on the website.
  • Sort items by type and size before tagging.
  • Ensure toys, puzzles, and games are complete and securely packaged. Use zip ties for shoes.
  • Package blankets in zip bags or hang them.
  • Enter all items in the system: description, size, price, discount option, and donation option.
  • Print tags on white cardstock only. No printer paper.
  • Please DO NOT cut the barcode when cutting out the tags.

Attach tags securely:

  • Clothing: tagging guns (careful not to damage items) or safety pins
  • Books: painters' tape (packing tape damages covers)
  • Toys: zip ties, painters' tape, or clear packing tape
  • Hang clothing with the hanger facing like a question mark (?).

Pricing Guidelines

  • Only consign items that are in excellent condition.
  • Price items at 40-50% of retail, taking into account brand, demand, and overall condition.
  • Use lower pricing for newborn clothing, junior sizes, and value brands (Carters, Old Navy, Garanimals).
  • Use higher pricing for large toys, baby gear, and boutique or name brands (Gymboree, Janie & Jack, Matilda Jane, Ralph Lauren, etc.).
  • Mark items for Discount Day. Consignors who do so, typically earn more and take home fewer unsold items.

The 4 Cs of Consigning

  • Clean: All items must be freshly washed, free of stains, odors, or heavy wear. Large gear (strollers, swings, exersaucers, highchairs) must be wiped down and seat covers washed.
  • Complete: Items must include all parts and be in working order. Battery-operated gear must have working batteries installed. Small parts should be sealed in clear bags and taped to the item.
  • Current: Items should be less than five years old and in style. Car seats must be under five years old, with a signed disclaimer confirming no recalls or accidents
  • Compliant: No recalled items. Please check recall lists before consigning.

How it Works

8 Simple Steps to Selling:

  1. Register as a consignor.
  2. Gather your nearly new items in great condition.
  3. Launder and clean any items you are bringing to the sale.
  4. Prep them for the sale by hanging clothing on a hanger and securing other items appropriately by reading our Merchandise Prep page.
  5. Price and tag your items using our online tagging system.
  6. Drop off your items at one of our drop-off days/times.
  7. Shop at our Consignor Presale where you get to shop before we open to the public.
  8. Pick up your unsold items or consider donating to our local charity.
